Examples of Sharon's Creations
Sharon is a retired nurse, mother of three girls, fiber artist, seamstress, designer and educator.
Sharon always has this yearning to learn and cultivate her passion for the creative arts. Over the decades, Sharon explored sewing with textiles at school, then arts and crafts with her kids or painting and decorating her home. Mostly, Sharon is self-taught. She has attended classes and workshops helping her to challenge herself to eventually construct many types of garments from scratch. Sharon has worked with most kinds of fabric. Sharon continues to attend creative arts and design classes, and designer events looking for new fashion opportunities.
Sharon has explored and attended workshops in: wet felting, nuno felting, organic and botanical imprinting, shibori stitching using wool, yarn, various fibres and needle felting. Sharon has traveled around North America to learn from local felt makers and eco-dyers.
Sharon has hosted international felt makers and eco-dyers to come and teach their techniques in her studio. Sharon has trained in the art of Paverpol sculpture and enjoys passing on her skills through classes.
Sharon is ecstatic to be in her new studio. She now has the space to pursue her interest in quilting. She can now blend blending her passion for the textile arts with the art of eco-printing (botanical printing), nuno-felting, upscale sweater coats and paverpol sculpture and share these techniques with the public. What influences me:
My hands, my heart, my life experiences. Colours in life inspire me be it nature, oceans and mountains, an open air market, meeting people and trips I have taken.
Experiencing the wide range of textiles and various fibres through sight and touch make my heart quiver.
